All sheaths I make is made from Rawhide leather. Making a Scandinavian knife-sheath does not require much tools, the trick is to learn how the leather works and do the right measurements to fit the knife properly. The leather is always tooled while wet and is, when finished, left to dry and shrink around the knife to make a perfect fit. When the leather shrinks it turns really hard and the sheaths are sometimes mistaken for wood.
I won’t go into how to make a sheath just yet, that will be a project for the future, but I´m going to show you what I´m having in my leather-making-drawer right now and what tools I usually use. If you have any questions feel free to ask them in the comment field.
You can see how I use them on a leather sheath in this post.
